SCREEN WASH RESERVOIR REPAIR

(project by : Tjaco Bokkinga)

OVERVIEW TOOLS

On some models the bracket holding the screen wash reservoir can make a hole in the plastic. This makes the bottle leak.

This procedure is the cheap way to solve the problem of the leaking whiper-reservoir, it consumes a bit of time but saves you a lot of Euros! . Good luck !

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO

STEP

ACTION
1

Remove left front wheel (drivers side)

2
Remove black plastic inside cover (undo 5 screws) by bending it carefully and taking it out.

...
3

Remove reservoir including the bracket, by undoing 1 screw (high up near shock tensioner), and 1 bold visible at left front holding the bracket

4

Detach hose and wire from reservoir motor

5

Slide off the bracket from the reservoir (the place holding the bracket is the problem-area)

6

Remove a part of the bracket, so you get more space to work on the problem-area, the part that has to be removed is 1,5 cm wide

...
7

When the part is removed, undo the sharp edges, and smoothem them with sandpaper.

8

Using an old toothbrush you can clean the problem-area aswel as the bracket, there may not be any grease or dirt be left!

9
Use a towel for drying the parts
10
Fill the problem-area of the reservoir with ŒSIKAFLEX 291¹, this is a adhesive sealant and bedding compound specially developed for extreme use in wet conditions (watersports, boats, etc.) Available in any good watersports-shop for boating equipment

11
Slide the bracket gently back on to the reservoir until it Œclicks¹ (not all the way back!)
12
Then apply more ŒSIKAFLEX 291¹ all arround the bracket, and smoothen it with a wet finger until it seals every spot where the bracket and reservoir join

13
Allow the whole thing to dry out for at least 2,5 hours, then work your way back again to put it all together on your car.
